4Excellent cutterJan 22, 2010
By Lara Parent
After going through a number of cheaper cutters (Fiskar and other brands, which were inconsistent in their cuts and whose alignment always started to go within a matter of months, I finally broke down and bought this cutter. I needed something heavy duty that would cut photographs straight and had great alignment. I am impressed with its build and so far it has been great. My only complaint is that photos can be easily scratched as the space between the plastic lip and the base is very tight. --Lara, [...]

3Good Product Bad Quality ControlJul 13, 2011
By Shafeeq Hameed
I have been looking for a good Rotary Cutter for my photographs, and after a lot of research and reading the reviews I decided to pick this one. When it came in, I laid it on a flat surface and it had a wobble! This was some what annoying for the price tag of the product. Next I tried to use the blade but could not get it to budge. It felt jammed. When I did get it to move I noticed that the blade was cutting the plastic guide. So after a little examination I realized the blade was installed incorrectly. After taking the screws off the guide I was able to reposition the blade correctly. The unit worked much better. Even the Wobble was gone!

The blade is real smooth and cuts are real accurate. The paper sits in the side guide and is very stable. I would give the unit a higher rating if it came functioning out off the box.

5smooth as silkJun 26, 2011

I'm a photographer and I got to the point that I was putting together some 50 photos a week. I was using a Olfa disposal blade utility knife, cutting rule and self healing mat. Trimming down 50 prints meant 200 sides which took some time. I decided that I needed a Rotatrim Pro 18 inch cutter. Oh man did it trim time off of that step, plus it's really fun, yes fun to use. I always get perfectly squared cuts with the self sharpening blade. One thing I really like is the plastic clamping strip which holds the paper down as your making your cut. It as a molded bead running down the length of the strip, and when you slip the print to be cut under the strip and line the edge of the print with the transparent bead and make a cut, you get a 7/16 white edge. For me, that's perfect for putting the print behind a mat window. I find all kinds of uses for it in the shop. I don't cut heavy board with it as I use a mat cutter for that. I give it 5 stars only because there is no 6.

5Well worth every penny, honestly !Feb 09, 2012

This cutter / trimmer is well worth every penny. Yes it is a little pricey, but if your work is worth doing it is worth doing right. This trimmer will do exactly that. It is a very professional trimmer. You will not be disappointed, and I am picky. It cuts effortlessly and makes all cuts look absolutely professional. No bludgeoned, burred, ripped, torn nor frayed edges. You can literally cut a 1000th of an inch off if need be without the sheet shifting, creasing or caving under. I have cut almost two thousand 10 mil. sheets already in just a month or so and it works terrific. I am sure this trimmer could cut twice that thickness without effort.
Make sure you evaluate what size trimmer you need. At first, I thought I needed a 24" trimmer to do the size photos I was trimming but after reading some of the reviews saying that you do not need as big a platform as you think you do, I decided to take that advice. And I am glad I really analyzed those comments. The 18" trimmer works great even for my 13" x 17" sheets. The overall length of the 18" trimmer is 24 1/2" with a cutting edge platform of 18 1/2". The short direction is only 12 1/2" wide but that's plenty even with larger sheets. Even at that it does take up some desk space. But regardless of what size you need, you will not go wrong with this trimmer.

5The Best Cutter For Paper Crafts!Feb 05, 2012
By Kathy Heller
An invaluable tool for crafts that require cutting paper. It allows precision cutting, and the 18 inch model is perfect for cutting small pieces of paper, as well as 12 x 12" sheets of paper. This is the only paper cutter I use for creating my own greeting cards and gift tags.
