This unit integrates well with Pinnacle 14 Studio Ultimate, as well as Nero. I have burned Blu Ray, double layer DVDs, regular DVDs with no problems. Burn speed is adjustable by software.

It should be noted that this is an OEM product. No cables, mounting screws, sparse instructions, outdated software, no technical support from Pioneer. Performance on BD-RE is more like 1X rather than the 2X claimed. Speed on BD-R is also slower than claimed.

I purchased from Platinum Micro, Inc. This is a bulk (or OEM) item and is not retail. It does not have a label from Pioneer. So you will not receive the original box and cables. Runs good though!
Software is from Cyberlink and says ultimate Playback and Burning Suite for Blue-ray Disc, but asks you to upgrade after installation. Cannot play HD formats like AVCHD (from HD camcorder). The upgrade cost for the playback piece is $[...]. There are two more pieces to upgrade but I have to see their upgrade price. Please visit the cyberlink website.

This is the second BD burner I've owned. Realizing the enormous amount of data that needs to be written on a BD disk, I became acustomed to waiting substantial lengths of time to burn a disk. But, that all changed after I got this drive! I can now burn a 30 minute blu-ray movie from Adobe Premiere Pro in LESS than 2 minutes. Most DVD drives won't burn a DVD that fast. Installation of this drive is simple; literally plug and play. It runs incredibly quiet and works perfectly. It's definately a Best Buy!

I bought this drive to replace an old DVD writer in my HP Pavillion PC. The drive installed easily. I did need new SATA power and data cables since the unit it was replacing was not SATA. After booting up, Windows set up the drivers and in less than 5 mins I was able to pop in a Blu-ray. It is quieter than the old drive and definetley quicker. I thought I would lose the flip-down disk door function in the front of the tower, but I didn't. I guess the Pioneer is a standard form factor and even the led light lined up correctly.
