We had 14 trays of slides to view and this little viewer was THE most economical way for us to cull through all the slides. There were other options available to us but they were all more expensive. Believe me. this is what you want.

This slide viewer work well to sort out one's slides just by holding it up to the light. It does just what it is suppose to do.

I've gotten better prizes in a Cracker Jack box! The picture, in comparison to the other viewers next to it, is deceptive....makes it look MUCH bigger than it is! I guess if you have PERFECT eyesight, it might be useful, but not for me! Adorama camera suggested I mail it back (at my expense, of course) and that would have cost me more than I paid for it!! I asked them to simply credit me my purchase price (a measly $2.99) towards a bigger and better viewer that I was willing to buy, but they refused. You've lost a customer.....I will NOT buy from Adorama again. Buyer beware! If you are looking for a way to really SEE your slides, this is NOT for you!!

Originally I looked into the Hoodloup, but as one reviewer stated $80 for this item is priced a little high when you can purchase a used 50mm prime lens for less, I am sure the Hoodman will function much better then this item, but for the price and the way this works....best bet for your money, and if your unhappy with it then go and spend the money on the higher priced item, in the bright sun it works just fine, and if something happened, break or lose it, I'll get another one! Just don't have high expectations of a high end product; Bottom line is it works for what I need it to do.

Better then a Hoodman Dedicated LCD LoupeMar 06, 2010
I had a Hoodman camera LCD loupe Hoodman H-LPP3 HoodLoupe 3.0 Professional 3-Inch Screen Loupe, but now use a Pana-vue #3 Slide Viewer instead. To make a LCD loupe the slide viewer would need be modified with a saw to remove the slide holder part. I belong to a camera club in suburban Maryland Washington DC (NBCC), many of our other members now also this as a camera loupe solution. The Pana-vue is smaller and more compact then the Hoodman; remember a LCD loupe will typically be kept handy by storing in a pocket when not in use. While "on a shoot", having a durable compact item in my pocket is preferable to a fragile bulky one.
