good light-weight tripodOct 24, 2009
By Onepoorguy Purchased this for my wife. She hates my 6lb tripod because it's so heavy. This tripod weighs-in at half that, only 3lbs. This is something she would be willing to carry around. And it's capacity is adequate so that there is no worry about the tripod dropping the camera. (I'm often amazed people trust their $1000 cameras and lenses to some $29 Walmart special that could collapse at any moment.)
On the plus side it is light and portable, and comes with a carry-bag. The leg clamps are tight and secure. It deploys quickly, and puts away quickly.
On the minus side it is not as sturdy as my tripod (also a Manfrotto). The head is not interchangeable, and I found the head pivot lock to be a bit weak. It required a lot of twisting of the handle to get it secure. I also don't like how the camera locks into the head. It works, but is not as simple as my other tripod.
In summary, a good compromise between a heavy solid tripod and a flimsy useless one.

great buy for the money...be careful though; it's fragile.Oct 28, 2009
By Jonathan E. Harvey This is my first Manfrotto tripod and overall I'm quite pleased. It's light enough that I can take it with me on long backpacking trips (strapped to the outside of my pack). Stability has never been an issue, even during intense windstorms. Compared to the old-school JC Penney aluminum tripod I used to use this thing is great. And at just over 100 dollars I think it's a steal.
My one complaint is its fragility. The little plastic lock thing that you open when you want to raise or lower the head snapped off within a few months. It might have been weakened when I accidentally kicked the tripod over, but it didn't come off until I tried to open it to raise the head today. Just realize that if you need something that can handle some wear and tear, you may want to look for something more robust.

Great tripod for amateur/professional photographersJul 16, 2009
By M. Moser When I was looking for a tripod I didn't want anything dirt cheap or outrageously expensive, but I did want quality. I found the Manfrotto 7321YB M-Y Tripod with 3-Way Head, which works comfortably, very compact and light weight. The head isn't interchangeable, but a nice on-the-go tripod for those nice steady shots. The only drawback would be there's no leveler and the head cannot be changed; other than that, you won't really complain. I would recommend this to any amateur photographer.

Light, yet SturdyJan 24, 2010

Tripods, in this day of Image Stabilization, are an anachronism, like film. But if you need a tripod for travel, I find this Manfrotto 7321YB the best compromise among sturdiness, packability, weight and price. The extended height is good for me (I'm 6 foot tall) yet you can mount the camera virtually at ground level. The pan head is good for about 5 lbs which means a DSLR with a short telephoto, after which it can sag. The quick release plate is easy to use and quite secure. Here's my assessment:
Sturdiness: OK except in windy conditions, when you need to hang a backpack or other weight to stabilize it.
Packability: It measures 19" when closed. If you're really tight for space, remove the pan head which brings the length down to 18"
Weight: about 2-3/4 lbs, about the same as a Nikon D90 with the 18-2000 VR Zoom.
Price: a lot less than those carbon fiber tripods

Very good tripod for the semi-professional photographerMay 20, 2011
By Dobrin The quality of the product is exceptional! I've taken many low speed shots with this tripod and it always delivers what you need it for. It supports my Rebel T1i very firmly, but you might opt out for a bigger one if you have a heavier camera.
The only thing I don't like as much is that it is quite clumsy to carry around and is not exactly light. I guess this is the price you are paying for the quality of the product. Also, next time I might prefer the ball head as it is easier to operate than the 3-way head I got on this one.
