By Photograph-R Easy to use, quick to set it up, light-weight and sturdy what more to ask for. I checked a few of them in the store among the Manfrotto collection and I think this is one of the best deal. This tripod doesn't have that feature to flip the center-column in horizontal position but I believe that function is unnecessary. The Manfrotto 190CX3 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is very light and it's easy to carry around.

Good light buget carbon-fibre tripodJan 21, 2010
By Gerald Khoo I just bought the 190CX3 and love it. My other tripod is the 190XProB. The 190CX3 does not have the centre column which can be turned to horizontal position (which is not really necessary), but it can do something which the 190XProB cannot, and that is to remove the centre column.
To remove the centre column, remove the retainer from the bottom of the centre column. After removing the centre column, turn the retainer around and plug it in place of the centre column. It also has a screw where you can put your tripod head. This makes the tripod even lighter!
For the price paid for the 190CX3, it is definately worth it for a carbon-fibre.

By backpacker excellent for spotting scope use on backpacking trips. Lightweight, compact and very stable. Long range of adjustment for height and uneven terrain.

Excellent travel tripodMar 29, 2010

If you are looking for a quality lightweight, compact but stable tripod then the 190CX3 is the tripod for you.
I put the word "quality" first, because after some costly miss-steps, I have sworn off the always disappointing knock-off copies of name brand tripods, and have gone with the "real deal" in this very well (Italian) made Manfrotto tripod. If you are have used the "knock-off" tripods you will really appreciate the quality and stability of this Italian beauty!
Features:
I find the flip leg locks are MUCH quicker and more secure than the twist type locks of other tripods and lock with with just one flip of my thumb on the two levers at once. Very slick and quick! The center post turn-key lock is easier to use than the twist type too. The four locking leg positions are well designed with a metal thumb push, and much better than only the two or three positions on other tripods. The included low angle adapter is a nice feature that allows you to remove the center post entirely, for close to the ground shots. Most importantly, you won't find a more stable tripod anywhere at this light weight (less than three pounds). The only caveat in regards to this tripod would be the operating height. Make sure it works for your stature before buying.

Lightweight TripodOct 06, 2010
By Steve Tattersall This tripod combines lightweight with a strong sturdy construction. I use it with my Nikon spotting scope that weighs around 8lbs and find it is perfect for the job.
