5Excellent Multi-use Accessory!Jan 29, 2010
By Daddy V
After trying this on a Nikon SB-400 flash unit, attached via the LumiQuest Cinch Strap, I decided to try this on the Sima Ultra Bright Video Light - attached using the provided velcro felt strips. (I get complaints that the ligh is too harsh during filming...) Wow, what a difference. This Softbox takes the edge off the Sima Light and provides a nice key/fill light now during low lighting conditions. So nice that I've decided to by 2 more and an additional Sima Light for both key and fill for video (look up 3-point lighting technique).

The advertised use as a Softbox for flash units is excellent. Especially with the SB-400 and it's limited range of motion (read portrait vs. landscape orientation of the flash), I don't have to worry about a surface to bounce the light off of. Just put this Softbox on and shoot...

So, it's a great alternative to augment your existing light sources to get results that might normally require purchasing additional lighting equipment. I recommend this product for it's multi-purpose use and flexible design.

5Nice addition to my gearJul 23, 2009
By Jean-pierre Le Clair
I purchased this to use at my nieces wedding and it performed quite well.

Pros:
softened light as expected
reduced harsh shadows
lightweight
portable (stores flat)

Cons:
velcro mount on flash makes it difficult to use other accessories

1Should Have Done My HomeworkJun 30, 2011
By Danielle
I don't live near any camera shops, so last time I got to drop by one I picked this up on a whim. Definitely should have read up on it first. I shoot out and about a lot and wanted something simple, quick, and small. While it definitely fits the bill there, sadly, that's it. The other reviewers are right, it really doesn't seem to do much at all besides block some of the light. The shadows are still quite sharp.

I'm going to try out the Omni-bounce next. It got much better reviews and is even $10 cheaper. Now I just have to get the silly velcro off my flash that I foolishly put there for this thing.

1Cheap construction , flimsy - junkJul 30, 2010
By Jonathan A. Craigue "mr. potato head"
I can't believe they charge $23.00 + for this thing - it's a flimsy folded piece of plastic with velcro tabs.
Put a plastic bag over your light and save the money :L
