The perfect toy for Professionals!May 27, 2008

I bought this ringflash to accompany my toy holga for experimental images. Shortly after, I learned it works VERY well with my SLR. It's not an exact match, but it's definitely worth getting for its price and trying fun stuff out. What's really cool about this ringflash, is that you can change the gels and the diffusers to have exciting new color combinations that are visible in your images. With the white diffuser, it creates soft shadows just like an expensive ringflash, but for only 1/8 the price! It's a great extra piece of equipment that cannot be beat for it's price!

Ringflash for Diana FNov 25, 2010

I am disappointed in this item. When you connect it to the camera (I have the Diana F medium) is covers the area of the camera to be able to attach it to the tripod. It also seems that you have to be able to hit the flash button at the same time you are taking the picture and let me tell you, that is near impossible. I don't think it is a good match for the Diana, hopefully it is for other camera's because it could be such a neat feature.

Disappointed ;( DO NOT PURCHASE for your SLRFeb 19, 2010

I received this flash as a gift yesterday. I was really excited to use it. Unfortunately, it does not come with a SLR adaptor. after reading the directions, I discovered that SLR adapter was not included, but was going to be made and available in 2007. Since it is now Feb. 2010. I expected to eventually receive the correct adapter,so I used the flash by holding it in place all night. When I went on line to order the adapter, I not only discovered that a SLR adapter was never made, but I also learned that you shouldn't hook the hot shoe up to your SLR camera.
[...] has this on their web site:
" Warning: You can use the Lomography Ringflash with any digital camera using the slave function.
However, please do not connect the Lomography Ringflash directly to your digital camera's hotshoe!
The reason for this is that the trigger voltage of the Lomography Ringflash is 210 Volts and is not compatible with the voltage of your hotshoe. As a result, this will fry the internal circuits of your digital SLR."
I did not see anything on the Amazon product detail page about not using the hot shoe on a SLR and I did not see that an adapter was not made for a SLR.
It's a complete shame. This would be a fun flash if you could use it on a SLR without frying your hot shoe.
I am so disappointed.
