Lomo Colorsplash - Really fun with Other CamerasOct 24, 2007
By carl Don't forget you can use this thing on any DSLR or film SLR witha hotshoe or with a synch adapter. You can also put a standard camera on 'bulb' and fire the flash manually using a bunch of different colors. Just reduce the aperture say 4 stops and fire the flash five or six times in different locations and different colors. Since you can see your results on the screen it's a really powerful little addition to picture taking. Also don't forget you can just use a slave trigger to make the thing light up a backdrop or use it as a hair highlight on a flash stand along with more traditional studio flash units. Yeah - it's no different from a colored gel on a studio flash unit, but it is more portable and it's cheap enough to tape on a stick on location where studio lights are out of the question.

Fun flashDec 28, 2004
By Angel E. Peraza This is a nice flash for messing around with. It only uses one AA battery and charges pretty fast. Fits standard hot shoe.

Fun Fun FunJun 06, 2004
this little flash is the most fun you'll ever have. comes with a dozen different colors to choose from and it can be used even off of your camera. its ridiculously lightweight. fits in a pocket!!!! I've had alot of fun with it. If you have a Lomo LC-A it can do some weird other stuff aswell. check www.lomography.com for more details.

Colorsplash Flash on a Diana+Mar 06, 2009
By Example Twain I bought this flash to use on my Diana+ after becoming frustrated with the colored gel inserts for the standard Diana F+ flash.
I was happy to find that the Colorsplash Flash does work with the Diana+ using the hot shoe adapter. It is significantly less bulky than the standard Diana F+ flash, charges in half the time, has a very convenient ON/OFF toggle (especially compared to the standard F+ flash), and has a very handy system for switching out the colored gels. While definitely a welcome upgrade, the Colorsplash does have a couple of downsides.
When attached to the Diana+ (with the hot shoe adapter), the viewfinder adapter cannot also be connected to the camera. So, if you're using the wide angle lens, you won't be able to use the included viewfinder.
The other downside to the Colorsplash Flash is that only TWO of the available four flash colors -- which are clear, red, blue, and yellow by default -- can be swapped out. The real problem here is that the blue and yellow gels are permanently affixed to the unit and only the red and clear (standard flash) slots are swappable.
Still, it's a great unit and a significant upgrade over the default Diana F+ flash.

Inexpensive, very effective, fun!Oct 15, 2007
By Guy Montag I'd seen someone on Flickr that had recently gotten one for their D200 and looking at the results raised my interest. The price is what cinched it for me and after using it a fair bit today, I was delighted. It looks a bit weird on my D200, but it works great, on camera or off.
It's one of the most fun photographic tools I've ever laid my hands on, not to mention one of the most inexpensive. The cost:fun ratio is very much in its favor - get one, you won't be disappointed.
