5Excellent protectionAug 16, 2009
By Wayne Miller "Creole"
I bought this for my EOS 40D several months ago (a year?). I must admit I was disappointed when I received it as I had thought it would be something that clips onto the back of the camera like I see for the Nikon D300. I installed it anyway, very simple - however didn't do a good job of cleaning the LCD beforehand (piece of lint) and I didn't line it up properly over the LCD.

Well, I put it to the test inadvertently 4 weeks ago as I was participating in Scott Kelby's Global Photowalk. I put the camera on my dashboard and as I sat down on the seat of the car my weight made the car shift and the camera slipped off the dash. I don't know what it hit but it fell screen first and I just managed to catch it after it bounced off of "something." Needless to say the Giottos screen was split from end to end, diagonally across. If the camera had been without this protective screen that would have likely been the end of my LCD!

My solution was to re-order two more, one to replace the broken one and another as a spare. This time I have affixed it properly (lined up) and cleaned the LCD and glass of all lint. The broken glass was removed as per instructions - heated with a blow dryer, and came off very easily. Completely satisfied.

5good and nice looking protection glass for LCD screenNov 10, 2009
By Jin Chong
Listen people, It is a glue on protection GLASS with multi coatings, and after you glue it on the camera, it stays forever, of course you can take it off but if you do so then it won't glue on the LCD properly again. So it is not like you can put it on and take it off anything you want. The glue part is only on the sides where located at the black area on the protection screen. So don't worry it won't stick to your camera's LCD screen.

the protection screen is well built and look just like the LCD screen that is on your camera. after installed it and turn on the camera, by looking at the pictures throw the screen, you can't tell any difference. I'm very picky person and It looks prefect to me. so if any of you guys are thinking to get this, you will like it, as long as you are okay with the glue on.

my recommendation for best protection after install the glass to your camera. put an inexpensive protection film over the glass, they are very cheap like 5 dollars for 12 or 18 sheets. they are like the film that you put on your cell phone screen. because the Giottos glass can be scratched and after scratches it won't look nice. with the film over it you can just remove it anytime easily and replace a new one. no need to rub or clean the finger prints or nose prints on the screen again. (rubbing with cloth on the giottos glass can cause light scratches) ;-)

5This is one of those "must haves" that all of us old pros useMar 06, 2012

I know, it seems like a really simple product and a lot of people initially say, "how can I justify spending $30 on a piece of glass?" Let me tell you, this is simply one of those "must have" items that all of us old pros use and here's why: First of all, it's not just a piece of glass. The people who make this have put a lot of time into designing the glass, specifically with the different layers that make up the whole product. It's designed so it doesn't affect the image you're seeing on the screen at all, while providing more protection that literally any other type of protector.

DO NOT buy the cheap clip on things... the image quality of the LCD screen will suck horribly and you WILL get dust, lint, dirt, and everything else behind the plastic. After you have to keep taking it off to clean it, you start scratching the plastic and before you know it, it looks like crap. This glass screen protector doesn't have this limitation. The main reason I use it is to protect the screen from getting cracked if the camera falls around in the field, something bumps it, etc., and most importantly, to protect my RESALE VALUE. Good luck selling your camera if the LCD screen is all scratched up. People are finicky about that (you're here looking at this page, aren't you?) and it tells the buyer that you didn't take good care of your camera.

Anyway, just buy this thing and you'll see for yourself why we swear by them. Oh, and in case you put it on a little crooked, don't worry. If you use a hairdryer to carefully heat the screen protector a bit, you can use your thumbs with light pressure to move the glass into the perfect position. When it cools back down, it'll be locked in the new position. Taking it off permanently in order to replace it is done in the same manner. No residue is left behind, at least not in the couple times I've done it over the years. Hope this helps in your decision.

4good productJun 01, 2010

seemd a bit overpriced for a piece of glass, but it feels well made. the clear screen is a bit smaller than the screen of a canon 7D, which it was supposed to fit, but it's a small difference, so it works fine.

5Great camera LCD screen protectorJun 30, 2011
By mt2hi
This is a beautiful piece of glass, that is designed to protect your expensive camera's LCD viewing screen. It was easy to install, fit's perfectly on my Canon 5d Mark II, and looks great. The only problem is that this protector is so nice that you feel like you need a protector for the protector :)
