Almost 2x faster than Firewire...Sep 05, 2007
By Yinyue I tested this using a Lexar Pro 4GB 300x CF Card and a MacBook Pro running 10.4.10 (1st gen, so 400Mbs Firewire Port). I loaded the CF card by shooting 100 RAW files with a Canon 5D.
Downloading 100 images with a Lexar CF Firewire Reader took 162 seconds. With this ExpressCard Adapter the same 100 images took 86 seconds -- so this product is almost 2x faster.
I was a little confused by the description, but realized that if you are only using CF cards, this is all you need. Worked great right out of the box -- no drivers, no other accessories required. A lot smaller than most other readers, too, so great for travel.

Forces me to restartMay 19, 2008
By Katharine Decker

I have a MacBook Pro, and after reading many reviews bought this product. The transfer speed is great, when it works. The trouble I have is every time I insert a card into the reader, I get that grey screen that tells me to hold down the power button to restart my computer, in about 6 different languages. I restart, after loosing progress on the things this "grey screen of death" as interrupted, then I am able to read the card just fine. This is a horrible manufacture default. I'd give this product 1/2 a star if i could and if i could take a screen shot when that grey screen appears, i would but this freezes my computer.
I don't even know if what I received was a Delkin model as there is no marking on my reader at all. Bottom line: Do not buy this product.

Correct item, fast transfer, doesn't completely seat against side of MacBook ProMay 17, 2007
By PF Amazon did ship the right item, and at a good price as well. It transfers images much faster than the native software for the Canon XTi, but I wish it would rest completely against the side of the computer. (see uploaded image) It's still better than a separate reader and a cord, but I would feel better about leaving the adapter in my 15" MacBook Pro if didn't stick out approx. 1/8th of an inch.

As advertisedOct 09, 2007

This product is convenient except for the protrusion which is unavoidable. Not practical to leave in place so it requires being carried seperately from the laptop. It is fast and works well out of the box.

Product Mixup ResolvedMay 07, 2007
By Sugi Sorensen I ordered this item on 29-Apr-2007, though I was concerned I'd receive the wrong item. Fortunately the correct item (i.e. the Compact Flash reader) was shipped thus indicating Amazon has resolved the mixup that many reviewers here reported.
As for the device itself, it works great. I have a MacBook Pro and the card reader worked perfect out of the box without any need to install drivers. Best of all, downloads are blazing fast, far faster than a one-year old USB 7-in-1 media card reader I used to use.
