Eyepiece extender works wellOct 31, 2008

The Canon EPEX15 II Eyepiece Extender works very well for me. I wear glasses, and when I first got my Canon EOS Rebel XSi DSLR I found that when trying to see the whole image in the viewfinder, my nose was scrunched against the LCD screen, smudging it continuously. Other reviews I've read said the Extender didn't work, or did nothing but decrease the size of the VF image by 30%. For me that is perfect. Now I can see the entire viewfinder image without straining, and because of the extra 15mm of distance, my nose just clears the LCD screen.
The Extender is easily inserted between the VF optic and the camera. For a $17.75 accessory, it is well worth it, and is genuine Canon.

YES!Jan 23, 2010

The first time I took a picture with my Canon XS, I said "I'm not liking the nose touching the LCD screen". I knew I had to find a solution. After seeing an Amazon suggestion, I knew I found it. Unfortunately, I purchased the wrong one! So here's the warning for anyone with a Canon Rebel XS:
Buy the EP-EX15 Ii for the EOS Rebel Series! THere is a version for non-EOS Rebel cameras. Anyone want to buy it for $10? :)
Ok, that said, I understand why some reviewers did not like this item. If installed right out of the box, the magnification does decrease. Its akin to watching your TV in 4:3 ratio and then sticking in a Letterbox framed movie (not be best analogy, but you get the idea).
Thank goodness for some smart people here on Amazon reviews. I removed the two opposing lenses to retain the stock magnification through the viewfinder. Now I have the best of both worlds.
Using this extended viewfinder allows me press my face against it to get better stability, which I believe will help this novice photographer.
I took some pics so you can see what needs to be removed and in what order. Check them out and then all the advice here makes perfect sense.

The EPEX15 II eyepiece extender works fine with eyeglasses. It works as advertised. That alone is refreshing.

Worth itJun 23, 2008
By NMI It is worth it. And the EP-EX15 II is better that the EP-EX15 - I have both. Might make a hard shell case not fit.

Perfect eyepiece extensionSep 10, 2009
By Scott I purchased this eyepiece extender because my nose kept hitting the lcd screen and I actually had to put pressure to get the camera close enough to see thru the view finder. This extender adds just the right amount of distance to make looking thru the view finder much more comfortable. It doesn't completely keep my nose from bumping the lcd but it sure makes a difference and i'm glad I purchased it. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that it makes the view finder image about 5% smaller than without it.
